THE HOUSE OF FRANKENSTEIN (USA, 1944) – On the decline of the Universal Horror era, this production manages to make room for Frankenstein's monster, Dracula, the Wolf Man, and a couple of new recruits. Escaping from prison, mad scientist Boris Karloff continues his diabolical efforts to emulate Dr. Frankenstein's "eternal life" experiments; he also swears vengeance on the men who sent him to prison. In a certain way, we are led to the impression that the producers made a last effort to inject blood (Dracula would love that) in the genre, but the outcome is a little bit disappointing.
