Para comemorar, este clássico, estrelado e dirigido por ele, ganhador de 4 Oscar, inclusive de melhor filme e melhor diretor. A última missão de Munny (Clint), um pistoleiro aposentado, viúvo, com dois filhos pequenos, se transforma numa trajetória épica, na qual um homem marcado por cicatrizes (um símbolo no filme) se reencontra com seu passado e, ao mesmo tempo, vislumbra um futuro finalmente em paz. No elenco, mais dois atores obrigatórios: Gene Hackman e Morgan Freeman. E Frances Fisher nunca esteve tão linda. Clint Eastwood is mandatory. Today, May, 31st, he turns 92. To celebrate, this movie, starred and directed by him, 4 Oscar winner, inclusive Best Movie and Best Direction. Munny’s (Clint), a retired hitman, widower, with two kids, has a last mission that becomes an epic journey, in which a scarred man (a symbol in the movie) faces his past, while having a glimpse of a future in peace, finally. In the cast, two other obligatory actors: Gene Hackman and Morgan Freeman. By the way, Frances Fisher had never been so beautiful. HBO.   

4038 - PERDIDOS NO ESPAÇO - TEMP 3 (8 EPISÓDIOS) - 2021

 

PERDIDOS NO ESPAÇO – TEMP. 3 – 8 EPISÓDIOS - (LOST IN SPACE – SEASON 3, USA, 2021) – A terceira temporada é um pouco confusa e se perde nas ações dos robôs em Alpha Centauri e numa ênfase nos laços emocionais e no poder mágico dos sentimentos, mesmo em pleno espaço sideral, para derrotar uma horda de robôs hostis. Apesar de tudo, os bons CGIs compensam as eventuais falhas do roteiro. Leaning heavy into the emotional bonds that tie this ragtag family together, the final venture of the series finds the Robinson family, fighting their way through the galaxy and back to each other, showing that the power of love is all you need to defeat menacing robot enemies. All and all, the satisfactory CGIs compensate the eventual flaws in the script. Netflix.

   STAR TREK – PICARD – TEMP. 1 – 10 EPISÓDIOS (STAR TREK – PICARD, USA, 2020) – Patrick Stewart não levava fé no personagem que o tornou conhecido e reverenciado em todo mundo: Jean-Luc Picard. Com o sucesso de TNG, ele logo viu o tesouro inesperado aos seus pés. No início desta série, no fim do século 24, ele está na França, vivendo tranquilamente no seu vinhedo, Chateau Picard, quando é procurado por uma moça misteriosa, cuja história está profundamente ligada a Data. Apesar de alguns pontos poucos claros no roteiro, STP é imperdível, principalmente por causa de Patrick Stewart. Patrick Stewart was not confident of the character that made him known and revered all over the world: Jean-Luc Picard. With the TNG success, he realized that he had a treasure on his feet. In the beginning of this show, he is in France, after his retirement from Starfleet, living a quiet life on his vineyard, Chateau Picard, when he is sought out by a mysterious young woman, whose life story is intimately linked to Data. Despite some obscure points of the script, STP is unmissable, mainly because of the great Patrick Stewart. Amazon Prime.

Nietzsche apaixonado... quem diria?

  LOU (Alemanha, 2016) – Lou Andreas-Salomé, nascida em 1861, foi uma mulher à frente de seu tempo: proto feminista, escritora, poeta e a primeira psicanalista mulher, sob a tutela de Freud. Relacionou-se com Nietsche, Rilke e Paul Rée, mantendo sempre uma postura intelectual independente. Nesta biopic, ela reconta sua vida e faz reflexões sobre seus encontros com algumas das mais brilhantes mentes de sua época. Katharina Lorenz é Lou na idade adulta, e sua atuação é esplêndida, contornada com genuína emoção e inequívoca profundidade. Lou Andreas-Salomé, born in 1861, was a woman ahead of her own time: proto-feminist, novelist, poet and the first female psychoanalyst, under the tutelage of Freud. She befriended Nietzsche, Rilke and Paul Rée, always keeping an independent intellectual attitude. In this biopic, she gives an account of her life and reflects about her being together with the most brilliant mind of her time. Katharina Lorenz é adult Lou, and her performance is splendid, fraught with true emotions and unmistakable depth. Telecine Cult.    

4035 - A SALVAÇÃO (2014)

Eva Green, obrigatória...

 A SALVAÇÃO (THE SALVATION, Dinamarca, UK, 2014) – Mads Mikkelsen é obrigatório. Aqui, ele é Jon Jensen, um imigrante dinamarquês no velho Oeste americano. Na estação de trem, ele recebe a mulher o o filho, após 7 anos, para começarem uma nova vida juntos. Num conflito com marginais, ela e a criança são mortos, e Jon se põe no caminho da vingança. A história é simples, mas eficiente, a fotografia é belíssima, e Mikkelsen é tão bom ator, que nem precisa falar nada para preencher a tela. Aliás, Eva Green (outra obrigatória) também pode ficar em silêncio o tempo todo e ter o filme inteiro para si. Uma coisa. Mads Mikkelsen is mandatory. Here, he is Jon Jensen, a Danish immigrant in the American Old West. At the train station, he welcomes his wife and son, after seven years, to star a new life together. They are murdered by two violent men, and Jon pursues revenge. The storyline is quite simple, but efficient, the photography is gorgeous, and Mikkelsen is such good actor that he does not need to talk to fullfill the screen. By the way, Eva Green (also obligatory) can also be silent all th time to have the entire movie for herself. She is something! Netflix. 

4034 - 007 - SOMENTE PARA SEUS OLHOS (1981)

  007 – SOMENTE PARA SEUS OLHOS (FOR YOUR EYES ONLY, UK, 1981) – Quinto filme de Roger Moore como Bond. Mais moderado do que o anterior (MOONRAKER), SPSO segue uma linha mais clássica de ação, embora ainda insista nas cenas submarinas, por alguma razão da estética cinematográfica da época. Carole Bouquet faz uma Bond girl desenxabida e inconvicente no papel. A partir da década de 80, os filmes de Bond voltam a ser mais fiéis às tramas dos livros de Fleming, envolvendo espionagem e a paz mundial. Fifth Bond movie with Roger Moore. More moderate than the previous film (MOONRAKER), FYEO follow a more classic action line, tough it still insists on underwater scenes, for some cinematographic aestetic reason of the time. Carole Bouquet is a week Bond girl, totally unconvinced on the role. In the 80s, Bond movies returned to be more faithful to the Fleming’s books, involving espionage and search for world peace. 4033 - DRÁCULA, DE BRAM STOKER (1992)

 

DRÁCULA DE BRAM STOKER (BRAM STOKER’S DRACULA, USA, 1992) – Perfeito do início ao fim, essa obra-prima de Francis Ford Coppola traz Gary Oldman como Drácula e Anthony Hopkins como Van Helsing, com uma pitada de Gustav Klimt (veja o traje de Drácula na sequência final, Joe). Apostando num mínimo de CGI, o diretor resgata a atmosfera gótica marcante dos filmes da Universal, aduzindo uma edição ágil totalmente alinhada com a narrativa de uma história de amor emoldurada pelos mais tradicionais elementos do horror. Winona Ryder está adequada ao personagem Mina, objeto do amor de Drácula e noiva de John Wick; Sadie Frost, ruiva no filme, simboliza a metáfora hemática da paixão que atravessou séculos; e, claro, Monica Bellucci, como uma das noivas de Drácula, é um colírio para olhos injetados de sangue. Coppola faz um uso único e criativo da luz e das sombras. De fato, uma obra de arte. Perfect from the start to the end, Francis Ford Coppola’s masterpiece has Gary Oldman as Dracula and Sir Anthony Hopkins as Van Helsing, with a twist of Gustav Klimt (check Dracula’s outfit in the final sequence, Joe). With a minimalist use of CGI, the director restores the gothic atmosphere of the Universal movies, adding an agile edition totally aligned with the narrative of a love story interwoven with the most traditional elements of horror. Wynona Ryder is adequate to the role of Mina, Dracula’s love objective and John Wick’s bride; Sadie Frost, red-haired in the movie, symbolizes the hematic metaphor of a love that crossed centuries; and, of course, Monica Bellucci, as one of Dracula’s brides, is a sight for bloody sore eyes. Coppola’s backlighting and use of shadows is creative and unique. A masterpiece, indeed. Netflix&Blu Ray.    

4032 - THE SCARLET CLAW (1944)

    THE SCARLET CLAW (USA, 1944) – Oitavo dos quartozes filmes com Basil Rathbone e Nigel Bruce, como Sherlock Holmes e Dr. Watson, TSC é um dos melhores, se não o melhor, da série. Holmes e Watson vão a Quebec, no Canadá, investigar uma série de asssassinatos numa pequena cidade. Muitos acreditam numa força sobrenatural por trás dos crimes, mas quando Holmes descobre o culpado – um ator com sede de vingança – ele tem que achá-lo antes do próximo ato brutal. Eight of the 14 films starring Basil Rathbone and Nigel Bruce as Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson, TSC is one of the best, if not the best, of the series. Holmes (Basil Rathbone) and his trusty partner Dr. Watson (Nigel Bruce) travel to Quebec, Canada, where a small village has been terrorized by a series of grisly murders. Members of the Royal Canadian Occult Society, led by Lord William Penrose (Paul Cavanagh), believe that paranormal forces are to blame, but when Sherlock pinpoints the real culprit -- a vengeful actor -- he must track him down before he commits his next brutal act.   

4031 - 007 CONTRA O FOGUETE DA MORTE (1979)

Bond, no bondinho...

 007 CONTRA O FOGUETE DA MORTE (MOONRAKER, USA, UK, 1979) – Quarto filme de Roger Moore como James Bond. A Guerra Fria já era; agora, o conflito está no espaço: alguém roubou um ônibus espacial ( ! ), Estados Unidos e Grã Bretanha se estranham e Bond entra em cena para resolver o imbroglio. A esta altura, a franquia já tinha perdido totalmente o sentido de realidade, mas a presença magnética de Moore, em pleno modo self-mockery, harmoniza as eventuais falhas de credibilidade e torna tudo muito divertido. A parte mais interessante são as cenas de Bond no Rio de Janeiro, emulando o carnaval carioca como cenário para a briga entre 007 e Jaws (Richard Kiel) – o Brasil, de fato, é visto sob uma ótica constrangedora para nós. A sequência final, numa estação espacial, meio detonada, convenhamos, é mal realizada e poderia ter sido excluída, mas o fenômeno STAR WARS obrigou os produtores a mantê-la. Fourth movie with Roger Moore as James Bond. The Cold War was outmoded and then the conflict was in space: the space shuttle was highjacked ( ! ), the United States and the United Kingdom were fighting and Bond is summoned to solve the problem. By then, the franchise has already lost the sense of reality, but Moore’s magnetic presence, in full self-mockery mood, fixes the credibility flaws and makes everything more amusing. The most interesting part are the scenes in Rio de Janeiro, emulating the carioca carnival as the scenario of Bond and Jaws’ fight – Brazil is depicted from a embarassing point of view. The final sequence, in a poor space station, is lousy and could have been cut, but the STAR WARS phenomena obliged the producers to keep it. Amazon Prime.    

4030 - PERSON OF INTEREST - TEMPORADA 3 - 23 EPISÓDIOS (2013)

    PERSON OF INTEREST – TEMPORADA 3 – 23 EPISÓDIOS (USA, 2013) – A partir desta temporada, há uma mudança significativa no roteiro da série: Shaw (Sarah Shahi) se junta definitivamente a Reese para resolver os casos indicados pela Máquina. Sim, a série evoluiu naturalmente, com novos propósitos, todos coadunados com os personagens e seus conflitos. De qualquer forma, POI é uma das melhores séries de todos os tempos. From this season on, there is a significant change in the script: Shaw (Sarah Shahi) definitively teams up with Reese to solve the cases indicated by the Machine. Yes, the série evolved naturally, with new objectives, all in accordance with the characters and their conflicts. Anyway, POI is one of the best series ever. Globoplay.  

4029 - VALERIAN E A CIDADE DE MIL PLANETAS (2017)

A cara do filme de Besson

  VALERIAN E A CIDADE DOS MIL PLANETAS (VALERIAN AND THE CITY OF A THOUSAND PLANETS, USA, França, 2017) – Ficção científica com a grife de Luc Besson, com muitas cores e uma concepção futurista peculiar, na qual sobressaem um pletora de criaturas exóticas. O filme é pouco estimulante, sem grandes elementos originais e chega a cansar um pouco em função da profusão de cores fortes e um clichê típico desse tipo de história: o maniqueísmo simplificado. A atuação mais marcante é de Cara Delevingne: séria, indômita, a um passo da imensa doçura contida na sua luta por justiça. Sci-fi by Luc Besson, fraugt with colors and a peculiar futurist conception, in which stands out a pletora of exotic creatures. The movie is dull, devoid of original elements and is in a way tiring because of profusion of strong colors and a typical cliché of this kind of story: simplified maniqueism. The most important performance is Cara Delevingne’s: serious, fearless and on the verge of being inevitable sweet. HBO.  

4028 - 007 - O ESPIÃO QUE ME AMAVA (1977)

 007 – ESPIÃO QUE ME AMAVA (THE SPY WHO LOVED ME, UK, 1977) – Terceiro filme de Roger Moore como 007. Barbara Bach é uma espiã russa e, claro, vai cair nos braços de Bond, justificando o título do filme. Alguns fatos interessantes: OEQMA apresentou ao mundo as primeiras cenas de um jet-ski; segundo consta, foi o último filme visto por Elvis Presley, seis dias antes da sua morte, em 16 de Agosto de 1977; a Lotus Esprit anfíbia usada por Bond em várias sequências foi comprada, em 2013, por Elon Musk, e o vilão Jaws (Richard Kiel) aparece com seus dentes de aço pela primeira vez (ele retornaria dois na os depois em MOONRAKER). Third movie with Roger Moore as 007. Barbara Bach the Russian spy who falls into Bond’s arms, which explains the movie title. Some interesting facts: TSWLM introduced to the world the first scenes of a jet-ski, it is the last movie Elvis Presley saw, six days before his death on August 16^th 1977; the Lotus Espirit, capable of transforming from car to submarine in the movie, was purchased by Elon Musk in 2013, and the villain Jaws (Richard Kiel) made his debut with his iron teeth (he would return two years late in MOONRAKER). 4027 - STILLWATER - EM BUSCA DA VERDADE (2021)

 STILLWATER – EM BUSCA DA VERDADE (STILLWATER, USA, 2021) – Matt Damon é obrigatório. É um ator excepcional. Aqui, ele é Bill Baker, um operário desempregado de Oklahoma, cuja filha Alisson (Abigail Breslin) está presa na França, acusada de ter matado a namorada. Bill vai visitá-la e decide enfrentar todo tipo de choque cultural, além da complexidade peculiar do sistema legal francês, para achar o culpado e inocentá-la. A atuação impecável de Damon ainda é mais emocionante quando ele começa a se relacionar com Virginie e sua adorável filha Maya. A cena final, com Bill e Alisson na varanda de casa é, ao mesmo tempo, profunda e inequivocamente simples, como os melhores sentimentos. Matt Damon is mandatory. He is an exceptional actor. Here, he is Bill Baker, um unemployed oil-rig worker, from Oklahoma, whose daughter is in a French prison for the murder of her girlfriend. Bill travels to France to visit her and decides to face the cross-cultural differences and the complexity of the French legal system, in order to find the real murderer and exonerate his daughter. Damon is impeccable and his performance is still more touching when he is with local woman Virginie and her adorable daughter Maya. The final scene, on the house porch, is equally deep and unequivocally simple, as the best feelings. HBO.

4026 - 007 - OS DIAMANTES SÃO ETERNOS (1971)

Connery e a bela Lana Wood

007 – DIAMANTES SÃO ETERNOS (DIAMONDS ARE FOREVER, UK, 1971) – Retorno de Sean Connery, depois do filme com Lazenby. Tudo é ruim, parecendo ser feito meio às pressas, sem grandes cuidados na produção. É um filme menor na série canônica de Bond, e a atuação exageradamente blasé de Connery confirma a lamentável escolha artística do seu retorno ao papel. Essa “escolha artística” parece ter perdido qualquer relevância diante do cachê de Connery, inversamente proporcional ao orçamento claramente limitado da produção. Connery returns as 007 after Lazenby’s movie. Everything is lousy, seeming to be done in rush, in a careless way. It is a minor movie of the canonic series, and Connery’s excessive aloof seems to confirm this regrettable artistic choice, something that lost any relevance when we consider Connery’s high fee, which made the special effects budget significantly scaled back. 4025 - MOONFALL (2022)

   MOONFALL (USA, 2022) – Roland Emmerich volta a mostrar a Terra em perigo de destruição total. Agora, é a Lua a grande vilã. O satélite está prestes a cair na Terra, causando um desastre total. Pois bem, o filme é um desastre. Halle Berry e Patrick Wilson são os protagonistas, cujos personagens são, no mínimo constrangedores. Michael Peña e Donald Sutherland estão perdidos numa trama tão insustentável quanto ridícula. Roland Emmerich shows again the Earth in danger. Now, the Moon is the menace. It turns out that the movie is the actual disaster. Halle Berry and Patrick Wilson are the protagonists whose roles are, to say the least, embarrassing. Michael Peña and Donald Sutherland are lost in a plot as improbable as laughable. Amazon Prime.   

4024 - 007 CONTRA O HOMEM DA PISTOLA DE OURO (1974)

Drácula contra O Santo

  007 CONTRA O HOMEM DA PISTOLA DE OURO (THE MAN WITH THE GOLDEN GUN, UK, 1974) – Segundo filme de Bond com Roger Moore. Agora 007 enfrenta Drácula: Christopher Lee é o vilão da vez, e Britt Eckland é a Bond girl desta edição. A produção é irregular – a cópia restaurada expõe as falhas de cenário e sequências pouco inspiradas. Uma curiosidade é a presença de Hervé Villechaize, o Tatoo da Ilha da Fantasia, fazendo mais ou menos o mesmo papel aqui. Second Bond movie with Roger Moore. Now 007 fights Dracula: Christopher Lee is the current villain, and Britt Eckland is the Bond girl now. The production is irregular – the restored copy displays the flaws in the sets and the uninspired sequences. Something to observe is the presence of Hervé Villechaize, Island of Fantasy’s Tattoo, anticipating his role in this film. Amazon Prime.

4023 - COM 007, VIVA E DEIXE MORRER (1973)

 COM 007, VIVA E DEIXE MORRER (LIVE AND LET DIE, UK, 1973) – Estreia de Roger Moore como James Bond. Moore faz um 007 mais cínico, totalmente imerso na fleuma britânica, num tom meio gaiato, ainda na linha de Brett Sinclair, o personagem que acabara de deixar em THE PERSUADERS. Tem-se a sensação de que Moore, de certa forma, esperava um personagem tão icônico para compô-lo com sua própria persona de ator. É clara a influência do “blaxploitation” do cinema americano da época, no roteiro, na cena antológica do enterro pelas ruas de New Orleans e no vilão Yaphet Kotto (cujo destino foi um dos mais ridículos no cinema). Jane Seymour é a primeira Bond-girl de Moore, e Paul McCartney assina a música-tema. Roger Moore makes his debut as 007: cynical, totally immersed in the British impassiveness, ironic in Brett Sinclair’s style, his character in THE PERSUADERS. One can sense that Moore was waiting for such iconic character to incorporate his own persona. It is clear the influence of the blaxploitation from the American cinema at the time in the script, in the anthological funeral procession along the streets of New Orleans and in the villain Yaphet Kotto (whose destiny was one the most ridicule ever). Jane Saymour is Moore’s first Bond-girl, and Paul McCartney is responsible for the theme song. Amazon Prime.   

 

4022 - HEREDITÁRIO (2018)

 HEREDIÁRIO (HEREDITARY, USA, 2018) – A história gira em torno de uma família em luto e dos acontecimentos misteriosos e trágicos decorrentes do sofrimento de seus membros. Suspense eficiente, com elementos sobrenaturais, mas com um desfecho mal elaborado e incompatível com as expectativas iniciais. Tony Collette e Gabriel Byrne no elenco. The story is about a grieving family and the mysterious and tragic events that happen afterwards. Effective suspense thriller, with supernatural events and a unelaborated ending, totally incompatible with the initial expectations. Tony Collette and Gabriel Byrne in the cast. HBO.   

4021 - 007 A SERVIÇO DE SUA MAJESTADE (1969)

 

Lazenby e Telly Savalas

007 A SERVIÇO DE SUA MAJESTADE (ON HER MAJESTY SERVICE, UK, 1969) – Único filme com George Lazenby como James Bond. Está na cara a razão básica para o fracasso: qualquer sucessor de Connery enfrentaria uma comparação insuperável (o mesmo vai acontecer com o ator pós Daniel Craig). O filme, em si, é meio arrastado, muito longo, e se afasta do charme espontâneo dos filmes anteriores, apesar das insinuações sexuais, das mulheres sedutoras e de uma linha narrativa mais próximas aos livros de Fleming. The only movie with George Lazenby as James Bond. The reason for the failure is clear: any Connery’s successor would face an unsurpassed comparison (the same thing will happen with any actor after Daniel Craig). The movie is basically a little bit slow, too long, and is far from the spontaneous charm of the previous films, despite the sexual innuendo and lots of provocative dressed women, and a narrative line closer to Fleming’s books. 4020 - COM 007 SÓ SE VIVE DUAS VEZES (1967)

  

COM 007 SÓ SE VIVE DUAS VEZES (YOU ONLY LIVE TWICE, UK, 1967) – Quinto e quase último filme de Bond com Sean Connery. A esta altura, Connery já não suportava o personagem e suas relações com os produtores já estavam deterioradas, a ponto de ele se recusar a atuar, se eles estivessem no set. É curioso constatar, aos olhos de hoje, como o ritmo narrativo filme – considerado agilíssimo na época – é lento demais, fragmentando as sequências de ação e ressignificando o timing dos diálogos. Donald Pleasance, como Blofeld, nos remete imediatamente ao Dr. Evil, de Austin Powers. Fifth and almost last Bond movie with Sean Connery. At that time, Connery could not stand the character and his relationship with the producers has deteriorated to the point where he refused to act if they were on set. Curiously, from today’s point of view, the narrative pace – too frantic at the time – is too slow, fragmenting the action sequences and corrupting the dialogue timing. Donald Pleasance, as Blofeld, reminds us of Austin Powers’ Dr. Evil. Amazon Prime.

4019 - AGENTES DO DESTINO (2011)

AGENTES DO DESTINO (THE ADJUSTMENT BUREAU, USA, 2011) – A cena, logo no início do filme, em que Matt Damon conhece Emily Blunt é de soltar faíscas. A partir daí, é só se deliciar com essa ficção científica pouco badalada de Philip P. Dick. ADD é muito bom e deveria ser mais apreciado. Damon, como sempre, tem uma presença carismática e comanda o filme com uma naturalidade impressionante. Emily Blunt está perfeita e em total consonância com o personagem de Damon. A filosofia implícita no argumento lida com questões sobre a vida como, por exemplo, a existência do livre-arbítrio. Vale cada cena. The scene, in the beginning of the movie, in which Matt Damon meets Emily Blunt, is simply sparkling. From this point on, we should enjoy this almost unknow sci-fi by Philip P. Dick. TAB is quite good and should be more appreciated. Damon, as always, has a charismatic presence and commands the movie with ease without ever trying too hard. Emily Blunt is perfect and in total harmony with Damon’s character. The implicit philosophy  of the argument deals with life issues like, for example, the existence of free will. It is worth watching every scene. DVD.

Bond tomando pé da situação...

 007 CONTRA A CHANTAGEM ATÔMICA (THUNDERBALL, UK, 1965) – Quarto filme de Bond. Desses primeiros, é o menos interessante, por causa da repetição de cenas, principalmente as submarinas, apesar de o orçamento ser maior do que os três primeiros filmes. Por outro lado, traz as duas mais belas Bond girls até então: Claudine Auger e Luciana Paluzzi. O vilão é Largo, vivido por Adolfo Celi, segundo marido de Tônia Carrero. Neste filme, Bond usa o famoso jetpack, visto no mesmo ano em Perdidos no Espaço. Forth Bond movie. Among the other three, this is the less interesting, because of the repetition of scenes, mainly the underwater ones, despite the budget for this movie was more than the combined budgets of the first three Bond movies. On the other hand, it brings the most beautiful Bond girls until then: Claudine Auger and Luciana Paluzzi. The villain is Largo, played by Adolfo Celi, Tônia Carrero’s second husband. In this movie, Bond wears the famous jetpack, seen in the same year in LOST IN SPACE. Amazon Prime.

4017 - VENOM: TEMPO DE CARNIFICINA (2021)

   

VENOM: TEMPO DE CARNIFICINA (VENOM: LET THERE BE CARNAGE, USA 2021) – O primeiro filme tinha um humor irônico, bem afeito a um personagem escrachado, como Venom, algo assim no estilo de DEADPOOL. Tom Hardy e suas indisfarçáveis limitações dramáticas faziam um contraponto interessante com a mordacidade de Venom. Neste segundo filme, a direção de Andy Serkis põe tudo a perder: o filme é violento apenas, não tem humor e emperra num roteiro sem muito sentido. O grande Woody Harrelson faz um vilão tão óbvio quanto desnecessário. The first movie had an ironic humor congruent with a damaged character like Venom, in DEADPOOL style. Tom Hardy and his undeniable dramatic limitations work nicely with Venom’s mordacity. In this second movie, Andy Serkis’ direction blows everything: the movie is just violent, has no humor and gets stuck in a senseless script. The great Woody Harrelson plays a villain as obvious as unnecessary. HBO.  

4016 - OLHAR DE ANJO (2001)

 OLHAR DE ANJO (ANGEL EYES, USA, 2001) – A história é simples e cativante: uma policial (Jennifer Lopez) se apaixona por um homem misterioso (Jim Caviezel, no estilo Reese), quando ele salva sua vida. O problema do roteiro é a escalação de Jennifer Lopez num papel pouco afeito às suas habilidades dramáticas. Caviezel parece estar fazendo um laboratório para seu personagem em PERSON OF INTEREST, mas consegue manter um ar trágico durante todo o filme. Há alguma filosofia de vida inserta nos diálogos, embora nada tão relevante para ser considerada o ponto alto da história. The story is simple and captivating: a police officer (Jennifer Lopez) falls in love with a mysterious man (Jim Caviezel in Reese’s mood) when he saves her life. The problem with the writing is Jennifer Lopez on a role not compatible with her dramatic skills. Caviezel seems to be training for his character in PERSON OF INTEREST, but keeps the tragic persona until the end. There is some kind of life philosophy inserted in the dialogues, though nothing so relevant to be considered the highlight of the story. HBO.     

4015 - 007 CONTRA GOLDFINGER (1964)

 GOLDFINGER CONTRA 007 (GOLDFINGER, UK, 1964) – Terceiro filme de Bond. O vilão, agora, é Auric Goldfinger, um homem laranja, cujo objetivo é tornar radiativas as reservas de ouro em Fort Know, para valorizar sua fortuna. Não dá para ver Goldfinger sem lembrar de Goldmember, de Austin Powers. Gert Fröbe (Goldfinger) foi membro do Partido Nazista, de 1929 a 1937, o que levou o filme a ser banido de Israel, até se descobrir que Fröbe havia ajudado dois judeus durante a guerra. A canção-tema, com Shirley Bassey, tornou-se um sucesso estrondoso. Third Bond movie. The villain, now, is Auric Goldfinger, na Orange man, whose objective is to contaminate Fort Knox gold reserves with radioactivity. It is impossible to see Goldfinger without remembering Austin Powers’ Goldmember. Gert Fröbe (Goldfinger) was a member of the Nazi Party, from 1929 to 1937, which led the movie to  be banned in Israel, until it was transpired that he had helped two Jews during the war. MOSCOU CONTRA 007 (FROM RUSSIA WITH LOVE, UK, 1963) – Segundo filme de James Bond, repleto de ação, e com um roteiro inteligente, refletindo a bipolaridade política do mundo à época. De acordo com o livro “Death of a President”, de William Raymond Manchester, este foi o ultimo filme visto por John Kennedy, em 20 de novembro de 63, numa exibição privada na Casa Branca. Second Bond film, From Russia With Love is filled with not only a heavy dose of nonstop action and adventure, but also an intelligent plot that commented heavily on the world state of affairs in 1963. According to the book "Death of a President" (1964) by William Raymond Manchester, this was the last movie J.F.K. ever saw, in a private screening in the White House, November 20, 1963.  A CONQUISTA DA HONRA (FLAG OF OUR FATHERS, USA, 2006) – Lado americano da batalha em Iwo Jima, o filme conta, principalmente, a volta para casa de três dos soldados da famosa foto do levantamento da bandeira americana na ilha. Transformada em peça publicitária de guerra, em pleno jingoísmo, a foto ganhou as primeiras páginas dos jornais e transformou os soldados em heróis explorados midiaticamente pelo governo americano. Um deles, um índio, se recusa a participar do show em torno de um feito questionável. Clint Eastwood faz uma crítica ao showbiz político e à manipulação dos fatos. American side of the Iwo Jima battle, the movie accounts for the home coming of three of the soldiers who raised the American flag on the island. Turned into a piece of war propaganda, in times of jingoism, the picture made the headlines and transformed the soldiers into exploited heroes by the government. One of them, an American native, refuses to take part in the events about something not so valuable. Clint Eastwood criticizes the political showbiz and the manipulation of the facts. Ken Watanabe, grandíssimo

  CARTAS DE IWO JIMA (LETTERS FROM IWO JIMA, USA, Japão, 2006) – Clint Eastwood é obrigatório. Neste filme, ele mostra os sentimentos dos soldados japoneses através das cartas escritas para suas famílias diante da derrota iminente para os americanos. Apesar do drama terrível da guerra, Clint consegue focar principalmente no lirismo amorável da esperança de voltar para casa, transformado em força derradeira para se lançar ao combate. Destaque para o grandíssimo Ken Watanabe. Clint Eastwood is mandatory. In this movie, he shows the Japanese soldiers’ feelings through the letters to their families when defeat to Americans was inevitable. Despite the gruesome drama of war, Clint succeeds in focusing on the loving lyrism of hope in coming home, turned into the ultimate force to fight. Highlight to the great Ken Watanabe. HBO.    

4011 - A PROMESSA (2016)

O amor no meio da guerra

A PROMESSA (THE PROMISE, USA, Espanha, 2016) – Diante do cenário do terrível genocídio do povo Armênio pelos turcos, em 1915, Mikael (Oscar Isaac), um estudante de medicina, se apaixona pela sofisticada Ana (Charlotte Le Bon), namorada de Chris Myers (Christian Bale), um jornalista americano. Apesar do foco no triângulo amoroso, o filme mostra a violência turca contra os armênios, lançando luzes sobre um episódio histórico pouco discutido, mas de extrema relevância. Oscar Isaac dá dignidade e doçura ao seu personagem, Bale é sempre intenso e preciso e Charlotte Le Bom é uma daquelas pessoas que sonhamos encontrar pelo menos uma vez na vida. Set during the last days of the Ottoman Empire, Mikael (Oscar Isaac), a brilliant medical student, falls in love with Ana (Charlotte Le Bon), Chris Myers’ (Christian Bale) girlfriend. Despite the focus on the love triangle, the movie shows the Turkish violence against the Armenians, shedding lights on a historical episode that should be more discussed. Oscar Isaac’s performance is dignified and sweet, Bale is intense and objective as always, and Charlotte Le Bon is one of those persons we dram of meeting at least once in a lifetime. HBO.

Jack Lord, o futuro Steve McGarret de HAVAÍ 50 e quase Kirk em STAR TREK, ajuda Bond numa investigação na Jamaica. Sean Connery dá os primeiros passos como James Bond, se ambientando com o personagem, enquanto a produção se encarrega de providenciar cenários e objetos de cena ligeiramente menores, para que Bond pareça maior. First Bond movie. Ursula Andress emerging from the sea is one of the most iconic scenes in the Bond franchise (and totally unintentional), Jack Lord, the future Steve McGarret in HAWAII 50 – and almost the captain Kirk of the Enterprise, help Bond in an investigation in Jamaica. MIKE TYSON: A VERDADE FORA DE DISPUTA (MIKE TYSON: UNDISPUTED TRUTH, USA 2013) – Spike Lee dirige este espetáculo solo de Tyson, onde ele fala de sua carreira e as dificuldades da infância pobre até o estrelato. É mesmo surpreendente ver a desenvoltura dele no palco, apesar da dicção ruim e de referências pouco familiares para a audiência estrangeira. Spike Lee directs this solo performance with Tyson, in which he talks about his career and the obstacles from the poor childhood until stardom. It is really surprising to see how he is at easy on stage, despite the poor diction and unfamiliar references to audiences abroad. HBO.
