O CALOURO (THE FRESHMAN, USA, 1925) – Esse é considerado o primeiro filme produzido sobre esportes – sempre uma empreitada difícil, e mostra um rapaz do interior (Harold Lloyd) ingressando na faculdade e se tornando popular (sempre a vaidade) para conquistar a mulher de seus sonhos (quem nunca?). Lloyd continua a explorar sua persona ingênua e de bom coração, estabelecendo um padrão seguido por comédias similares, numa linha mais urbana do que Chaplin. De toda forma, Lloyd foi o comediante mais exitoso de sua época, juntamente com Chaplin e Keaton. Silvério eu eu somos seus maiores fãs. Credited as being the first sports movie produced (always a hard deed), the script shows country boy Lloyd going to college and, after many comic tribulations, saving the day with the winning touchdown at the big game and winning the girl of his dreams. This was one of the comedian's most popular films. Lloyd keeps on exploring his naïve persona, establishing a pattern followed by similar productions, in more urbane line than Chaplin’s. All and all, Lloyd was the most successful comedian of his time, along with Chaplin and Keaton. Silvério and I are among his biggest enthusiasts.
