NO RITMO DO CORAÇÃO (CODA, USA, 2021) – Mais que merecido, o filme de Sian Heder ganhou, ontem, o Oscar, por várias razões: belíssimo, sensível, cativante, é um daqueles momentos sutilmente arrebatadores, quando você se dá conta, durante os créditos finais, da obra-prima que acabou de acontecer diante dos seus olhos. Emilia Jones, estupenda como a única pessoa ouvinte de uma família de deficientes auditivos (daí o título em inglês, CODA - child of deaf adults), é Ruby, uma adolescente dividida entre o sonho de estudar música em Berklee e o papel essencial de ser a conexão sonora entre seus pais e o mundo. Ela é uma das joias raras do filme. Falando nos pais, é emocionante rever Marlee Matlin em cena e a atuação magnífica de Troy Kotsur, premiada com o Oscar de Ator coadjuvante. Sim, e ele está maravilhoso no papel de pai de Ruby, especialmente na cena na qual ela canta para ele – Troy, também surdo, como Marlee, prova a validade incontestável de um dos meus critérios para um grande ator: saber atuar nos silêncios. Yesterday, Sian Heder’s movie was awarded with the Oscar of the Best Motion Picture of the Year for several reasons: it is beautiful, sensitive, captivating, and it is also one of those ravishing moments when you realize, while the finals credits are rolling, that a masterpiece has just happened before your eyes. Emilia Jones, splendid as the only hearing person in her deaf family, is Ruby, a teenager finding herself torn between pursuing her passion at Berklee and her essential role as the hearing link between her parents and the world. She is one of the jewels of the movie. Speaking of the parents, it is touching to see Marlee Matlin in scene again and the magnificent performance of Troy Kotsur, awarded with the Best Supporting Actor Oscar. Yes, he is wonderful on the role of Ruby’s father, especially in the scene in which she sings to him – Troy is deaf, as Marlee, and proves the truth of one of my standards for judging a great actor: knowing how to act in silence.
