CÍRCULO DE FOGO (PACIFC RIM, USA, 2011) – Guillermo Del Toro entende o que é um filme de monstro. Sabe como enquadrar
a grandiosidade de criaturas que, ao mesmo tempo, fascinam e amedrontam. Deveria,
pois, ter dirigido os filmes de Godzilla, todos, até agora, muito ruins, à exceção
do filme de Roland Emmerich, de 1998, com Matthew Broderick e Jean Reno. Para tornar
tudo mais interessante, ele põe na mistura robôs gigantes, outro aspecto de muito
interesse de minha parte. Tirando o aspecto técnico e o longo tempo em cena dos
verdadeiros protagonistas (robôs e monstros kaiju), o roteiro poderia ter sido
um pouco mais caprichado. Neste aspecto, TRANSFORMERS, de Michael Bay, larga na

understands what a monster movie is. He knows how to frame the grandeur of the
creatures that fascinate and scare, at the same time. He should have directed
all the Godzilla movies, all bad ones, the exception being Roland Emmerich’s
1998 movie, with Matthew Broderick and Jean Reno. To make everything even more
interesting, he adds giant robots to the mixture, something that pleases me a lot.
Apart the technical aspects and the long screen time of the real protagonists
(robots and kaiju monsters), the plot could have been a little more doctored. From
this point of view, Michael Bay’s TRANSFORMERS drops in front.
