VIRANDO
A PÁGINA (THE REWRITE, USA, 2014) – Ninguém melhor do
que um inglês em choque cultural com os EUA do que Hugh Grant. Aqui, ele é Keith
Michaels, um roteirista em decadência de Hollywood que é convidado para dar
aulas numa universidade, na chuvosa cidade de Binghamton, em Nova Iorque. É na
interação com alunos e professores que Keith descobre uma maneira de “reescrever”
sua própria vida. O elenco excelente (J.K. Simmons, a encantadora Marisa Tomei
e a ganhadora do Oscar de 2018, por I, TONYA, Allison Janney), o humor refinado
e, claro, Grant, fazem deste filme indie uma iguaria até o fim (sim, os créditos
finais são igualmente deliciosos). O título em português está perfeito. Nobody better than Hugh Grant to
perform the role of an Englishman in cultural shock with the American way of
life. Here, he is Keith Michaels, a decadent screenwriter from Hollywood invited
to teach at a university, in the rainy town of Binghamton, in New York. It through
the interaction with students and teachers that Keith figures out a way to “rewrite”
his own life. The excellent cast (J.K. Simmons, the delightful Marisa Tomei,
and the 2018 Oscar-winner, Allison Janney), the witty humor and, of course,
Hugh Grant, make this indie film a delicacy up to the end (yes, the final
credits are delicious as well). The title in Portuguese is perfect.
