3954 - OS GUARDIÕES DA GALÁXIA (2014)

       GUARDIÕES DA GALÁXIA (GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY, USA, 2014) – Quarto filme da fase dois, GOG se revelou, agora, um filme mais simpático de quando visto pela primeira vez. A reunião exótica de personagens quase cartunescos funciona bem dentro de um roteiro estudadamente anárquico, com cores exageradas e ótimas falas, principalmente de Rocket (voz de Bradley Cooper). O excesso de CGIs, típico em produções deste tipo, em muitos momentos atrapalha o ritmo da história – por isso, é difícil encontrar um diretor que calibre adequadamente a interconexão destes aspectos narrativos. Thanos dá as caras pela segunda vez. Vale muito pela trilha sonora dos anos 80. Fourth edition of Marvel phase 2, GOTG can be now seen as an amusing movie, much more than the first time I saw it. The exotic assembling of almost cartoonist characters works finely in a script specifically anarchic, with strong colors and great lines, mainly from Rocket (Bradley Cooper’s voice). The excess of CGIs, a trait in these kind of productions, is a hindrance to the rhythm of the story – that’s why it is so difficult to find a director that equalizes the interconnection of these two narrative aspects. Thanos show up for the second time. The 80s soundtrack is worth listening. Disney Plus.       

 

3953 - YOU - TEMP 3 (2020)

    YOU – TEMPORADA 3 (USA, 2020) – A terceira temporada de YOU deixa uma sensação mais desconfortável, em função de uma violência agudizada, meio desconectada da proposta inicial dos personagens. As ações de Joe e Love extrapolam um arco dramático apontado no fim da segunda temporada, estabelecendo um paradigma niilista (e mórbido) que acaba cansando o espectador, em função da imaterialidade das razões para os desatinos do casal. De qualquer forma, Victoria Pedretti rouba as cenas com seu olhar de Capitu, e ela é tão encantadora, tão imersa nas convicções de sua personagem, que é quase impossível não ter uma certa empatia com sua história. O roteiro arrisca uma explicação psicanalítica para as ações de Joe e Love, sem, no entanto, aprofundar a análise. The third season of YOU makes you feel a little bit uncomfortable because of the radical violence that seems to be a disconnected from the initial characters’ purposes. Joe and Love’s actions cross the line of the dramatic arch presented in the end of the second season, establishing a nihilist (and morbid) paradigm that ends up tiring the viewer for the immateriality of the reasons for their chaotic behavior. Anyway, Victoria Pedretti steals the scene with her Capitu-like look, and she is so charming, so intense in her convictions that is almost impossible not to relate to her own life story. The script takes the risk with psychoanalytic explanations for Joe and Love’s actions, but does not go any further. Netflix.   

 

 

3952 - THE AVENGERS: A ERA DE ULTRON (2015)

Scarlett, sempre...

      OS VINGADORES – A ERA DE ULTRON (THE AVENGERS – THE AGE OF ULTRON, USA, 2015) – Sexto filme da fase 2 da série canônica da Marvel, A ERA DE ULTRON é uma boa continuação, mas com alguns defeitos, os principais sendo algumas cenas longas demais, muitas vezes desnecessárias, interrompendo a dinâmica da narrativa, como, por exemplo, a sequência na fazenda do Arqueiro, um personagem, inclusive, ainda pouco desenvolvido no panteão dos super-heróis. Os excelentes efeitos especiais se coadunam com um roteiro, por vezes, irregular, porém efetivo na construção de personagens complexos e repletos de mudanças tonais difíceis de se harmonizarem. O flerte do personagem de Scarlett Johansson, Viúva Negra, com Bruce Banner, a meu ver, poderia ter sido elidido, porque, no caso, quem fica verde (de ciúmes) sou eu, devo dizer. O politicamente correto Capitão América continua chato, Thor ainda não encontrou seu lugar na equipe, Samuel L, Jackson não tem muito o que fazer com seu Nick Fury, Paul Bettany aparece bem como Vision, Elizabeth Olsen encanta como a Feiticeira Escarlate e Robert Downey Jr. continua com as falas mais mordazes. Sixth movie of the canonical Marvel universe, TATAOU is a solid sequel, not without its flaws: overlong sequences, sometimes unnecessary, interrupting the narrative dynamics, as for example, the part in the Hawkeye’s farm (he is an underdeveloped character, by the way, in the pantheon of the superheroes). The satisfactory CGIs are consistent with a somewhat irregular script that is effective in the building of complex characters fraught with tonal changes that are difficult to be harmonized. Scarlett Johansson’s character, The Black Widow, flirting with Bruce Banner is something that could have been deleted because it makes me green of jealousy. The politically correct Captain America continues to be boring, Thor has not found his place in the team, Samuel L, Jackson has not much to do with his Nick Fury, Paul Bettany brings light to his Vision, Elizabeth Olsen is mesmerizing as the Scarlet Witch, and Robert Downey Jr. has still the best lines. Disney Plus.    

 

3951 - TUDO POR JUSTIÇA (2013)

     TUDO POR JUSTIÇA (OUT OF FURNACE, USA, 2013) – O filme é uma história sobre vingança, traição e assassinato, tendo como cenário a vida de dois irmãos – Christian Bale e Casey Affleck – numa cidade no interior dos EUA. Ainda no bom elenco, Sam Shepard (desperdiçado no papel), Zoe Saldana, Willem Dafoe, Forest Whitaker e Woody Harrelson (nunca tão ameaçador). Com algumas falhas no roteiro, TPJ lida com temas já vistos em muitos outros filmes, mas consegue manter o interesse com personagens até o desfecho meio previsível. The movie is a simmering story of revenge, betrayal, and murder, having as background the lives of two brothers – Christian Bale and Casey Affleck – in a small town in US. Cast: Sam Shephard (on a role below his talent), Zoe Saldana, Willem Dafoe, Forest Whitaker and Woody Harrelson (never so menacing). Flawed but still a decent drama, OFF deals with a lot of issues that many films have dealt with over the decades, but it manages to build up the interest about the characters until the predicable ending. Netflix.    

 

3950 - SEM RASTROS (2018)

Thomasin McKenzie e Ben Foster

     SEM RASTROS (LEAVE NO TRACE, USA, 2018) – Will (Ben Foster, perfeito na sua silente intensidade) é um ex-soldado assombrado pela guerra avesso à sociedade, morando num bosque com filha, Tom (a excelente Thomasin McKenzie, de JOJO RABBIT), até serem colocados pelo serviço social num programa de socialização. Depois de entrar em conflito com seu novo ambiente, Will e Tom tentam voltar à sua vida fora da cidade. O filme possui várias leituras, principalmente o forte relacionamento entre pai e filha e a reflexão sobre a liberdade dentro do contexto social. O filme é maravilhoso. Will (Ben Foster, perfect in his quiet intensity) is a former soldier haunted by war living off the grid in a public forest in Oregon, with his daughter Tom (the wonderful Thomasin McKenzie, from JOJO RABBIT), until the social services put them in socializing program. After clashing with his new surroundings, they try to come back to their previous life. There are several readings for the movie, mainly the strong relationship between father and daughter, and a reflection about freedom in a social context. The movie is wonderful. Netflix. 

 

3949 - CAPITÃO AMÉRICA E O SOLDADO INVERNAL (2014)

       CAPITÃO AMÉRICA – O SOLDADO INVERNAL (CAPTAIN AMERICA – THE WINTER SOLDIER, USA, 2014) – Neste filme, Steve Rogers não tem mais que lidar com sua adaptação aos tempos modernos – aqui, ele se depara com a tênue separação entre o certo e o errado. Ele enfrenta um inimigo sem face, o Soldado Invernal, um posto avançado de um jogo complexo em que a S.H.I.E.L.D e a Hidra se misturam sem cerimônia. A direção dos irmãos Russo imprime ação constante a uma história previsível, mas com ótimos CGIs. Chris Evans continua bem no papel do chato Capitão América, Samuel L. Jackson tem um arco dramático maior, Anthony Mackie agrada como o Falcão, Robert Redford parece meio perdido num filme de super-heróis e Scarlett Johansson é Scarlett Johansson e isso já é o suficiente. Disney Plus. In this movie, Steve Rogers is not dealing anymore with his adaptation with the modern world, but has to face the subtle line between right and wrong. He fights a faceless enemy, the Winter Soldier, the front-man of a complex game in which S.H.I.E.L.D. and Hydra are together. The Russo brothers’ direction provides a highly entertaining adventure with non-stop action, despite the predictable story, but with non-stop action a top-notch CGIs. Chris Evans is still OK on the role of the annoying Captain America, Samuel L. Jackson has a more dramatic scope, Anthony Mackie is great as the Falcon, Robert Redford seems a little bit lost in a superhero movie, and Scarlett Johansson is Scarlett Johansson and there is nothing else to say. Disney Plus.  

 

 

3948 - EXTINÇÃO (2018)

Lizzie Caplan e Michael Pena

   EXTINÇÃO (EXTINCTION, USA 2018) – Peter (Michael Pena) tem um sonho recorrente de estar perdendo sua família durante uma invasão alienígena. Este pesadelo se torna realidade, quando o planeta é realmente invadido por forças destrutivas. O bom começo é comprometido por um terço central arrastado, até o twist final pouco inspirado. Michael Pena, um bom ator, está mal escalado para o papel e não tem química com sua esposa no filme, Lizzie Caplan, a Connie, de TRUE BLOOD. A father (Michael Pena) has a recurring dream of losing his family. His nightmare turns into reality when the planet is invaded by a force bent on destruction. The good start is compromised in the middle section of the movie, until the uninspired final twist. Michael Pena, a good actor, is miscast and has no chemistry with his wife in the movie, Lizzie Caplan, Connie in TRUE BLOOD. Netflix.
