CRIMES EM PRIMEIRO GRAU (HIGH CRIMES, USA, 2002) – Para começar: Morgan Freeman é obrigatório. Uma famosa advogada, Claire Kibik (Ashley Judd) tem seu mundo virado de cabeça para baixo quando seu marido (Jim Caviezel) é preso e tem sua verdadeira identidade revelada. Ele vai a julgamento por ter matado inocentes numa vila da América Latina, enquanto servia a Marinha. Claire logo percebe que, para enfrentar o Sistema de justiça militar, ela vai precisar da ajuda nada convencional do advogado Charlie Grimes (Morgan Freeman, soberbo, mais uma vez). Infelizmente, há sempre o lado negativo. O desfecho é incrivelmente pobre, com um twist ridículo e que compromete o roteiro que, até ali, havia alinhavado tudo direitinho. Um péssimo fim para um ótimo filme. To start with: Morgan Freeman is obligatory! High powered lawyer Claire Kubik finds her world turned upside down when her husband, who she thought was Tom Kubik, is arrested and is revealed to be Ron Chapman. Chapman is on trial for a murder of Latin American villagers while he was in the Marines. Claire soon learns that to navigate the military justice system, she'll need help from the somewhat unconventional Charlie Grimes (Morgan Freeman, superb, once more!). Unfortunately, as with some good things...there is always a downside. The ending is a cheap, ridiculous thrill that is more of a let down than anything. After collecting all these facts that add up perfectly in everyone's mind including the audience, every single one of those facts are forgotten and tossed aside in order for a ridiculous supposed "surprise ending" which is not a shock or surprise or even a "oh my" ending.
