FANTÁSTICO (DR. STRANGELOVE OR: HOW I LEARNED TO STOP WORRYING AND LOVE THE BOMB, USA, 1964) – No auge da Guerra Fria, e logo depois do assassinato
de Kennedy, Stanley Kubrick resolveu bagunçar com o clima apocalíptico que assombrava
o mundo diante da possibilidade de Estados Unidos e União Soviética começarem um conflito nuclear. Para tanto, ele
convocou Peter Sellers, em papéis múltiplos engraçadíssimos, montou uma Sala de
Guerra onde generais e políticos não se entendiam, colocou um piloto cowboy
disposto a joga a bomba atômica, na insana missão de acabar de vez com os soviéticos.
Neste avião, sem eu primeiro papel, James Earl Jones. Sátira a todo vapor, tão
poderosa quanto a bomba santa ao redor da qual se criou uma crença na onipotência
de nações sobre outras. Se fosse realmente usada, como o filme sugere, só
haveria perdedores. At the peak
of the Cold War, and just after the assassination of President Kennedy, Stanley
Kubrick decided to mess up with the apocalyptical atmosphere that haunted the
world, on the verge of a nuclear clash between the USA and the Soviet Union. To accomplish
this, he summoned Peter Sellers, in multiple funny roles, assembled a War Room,
where generals and politicians could not understand each other, put a cowboy
pilot willing to drop the atomic bomb and end the Soviets for good. On this
plane, in his first role, James Earl Jones. Satire at full throttle, as
powerful as the bomb around which the belief in the omnipotence of a nation
over other was created. Had it been used in the way the movie suggests, there
only would have been losers.
