MY FATHER, RUA ALGUÉM, 5555 (USA, 2003) – O fato de este filme, realizado no Brasil e com elenco com atores nacionais, ser o último da carreira de Charlton Heston é, no mínimo, curioso. É insólito também por causa do seu personagem: Josef Mengele, já idoso, foragido da justiça, vivendo numa favela em Manaus, o que contradiz os fatos históricos, pois Mengele se estabeleceu, até sua morte, em São Paulo, onde morreu afogado em Bertioga. O filme não explica por que a ação se dá em no norte do país, para onde seu filho, Hermann (Thomas Kretschmann), viaja para ajustar contas com o pai. O roteiro parece ser uma tentativa de explorar dramaticamente a relação entre um pai criminoso de guerra e seu filho, destroçado pela culpa de um passado que não lhe pertence. The fact that this film, made in Brazil and with a cast of national actors, is the last of Charlton Heston's career is, to say the least, curious. It is also unusual because of his character: Josef Mengele, already elderly, a fugitive from justice, living in a favela in Manaus, which contradicts the historical facts, since Mengele settled, until his death, in São Paulo, where he drowned in Bertioga. The film does not explain why the action takes place in the north of the country, where his son, Hermann (Thomas Kretschmann), travels to settle accounts with his father. The script seems to be an attempt to dramatically explore the relationship between a war criminal father and his son, torn apart by the guilt of a past that does not belong to him.
