Neste filme, ele decide mudar a vida, se aventurando num experimento fantástico: cientistas noruegueses desenvolveram um processo cujo objetivo era diminuir proporcionalmente a demanda humana por alimento, água e energia, além do lixo e da poluição – diminuir as pessoas para 12 centímetros de altura para que vivam como reis em comunidades minúsculas. Várias questões importantes são abordadas no filme de Alexander Payne: neste lugar perfeito (condizentemente chamado de Lazerlândia), acontecem os mesmos absurdos do mundo dito “normal”. Há um regime opressor, os imigrantes continuam a ser a força de trabalho invisível e os ricos continuam ricos e indiferentes aos que estão na base da pirâmide social. Matt Damon is obligatory. In this movie, he decides to change his life by taking the plunge into a fantastic experiment: Norwegian scientists have developed a process whose aim is to diminish proportionally the human demand for food, water, energy, besides the reduction of garbage and pollution – to reduce people to 12 centimeters of height and make them kings in minuscule communities. Several important issues are raised in Alexander Payne’s movie: in this perfect world (coherently called Leisureland) the same absurd facts of the “normal” world continue to happen. There is an oppressor regime, the immigrants are still an invisible labor force and the riches keep on being rich and indifferent to those who are the basis of the social pyramid.
