KIRK DOUGLAS – Um dos últimos gigantes
do cinema mundial, morreu ontem, depois de 103 anos de vida. Além de ter sido
um excelentíssimo ator, foi ele quem lutou para que o roteirista comunista
Dalton Trumbo voltasse a trabalhar depois de ter sido perseguido e preso pelo
Comitê de Atividades Antiamericanas (veja o excelente TRUMBO: LISTA NEGRA, com
o ótimo Bryan Cranston), na esteira da patrulha anticomunista do Macarthismo. Por
esta posição humanista a favor da justiça e dos direitos humanos, Kirk Douglas já
mereceria toda a admiração. Mas, além disso, ele também fez ótimos filmes, como
SPARTACUS e LUST FOR LIFE, no qual interpretava Van Gogh. One of the last giants of the cinema died yesterday,
after 103 years of life. Besides being a great actor, he fought for the communist
screenwriter Dalton Trumbo came back to work after being persecuted and
arrested by the Anti-American Activities Committee (see the excellent TRUMBO,
with the magnificent Bryan Cranston), as a result of McCarthyism. For this
humanitarian position in favor of justice and human rights, Kirk Douglas would deserve
recognition and admiration. Moreover, he also starred great movies (SPARTACUS
and LUST FOR LIFE, in which he played Van Gogh).
