O GRANDE DITADOR (THE GREAT
DICTATOR, USA, 1940) – Esta obra-prima de Chaplin não
poderia ser mais atual, em função do absurda da ascensão dos governos fascistas
no mundo e, especialmente e infelizmente, no Brasil. No filme, fica claro que
Chaplin faz uma defesa da herança do Iluminismo. ‘Vamos lutar por um mundo da
razão”, diz em uma das suas falas. Tudo faz lembrar o que se passa atualmente no
nosso país – a fala quase canina de Hinkel é tão odiosa, que o microfone se
afasta, representação criativa da sua crítica ao autoritarismo. O filme
é narrado em blocos quase independentes, até o discurso final, uma das cenas
