O olhar de Scarlett

 A ILHA (THE ISLAND, USA 2005) – Scarlett Johansson é obrigatória. Neste filme de Michael Bay (ARMAGEDDON e TRANSFORMERS), ela e Ewan McGregor fogem de uma instalação chefiada por Sean Bean, de onde saem clones encomendados pela elite rica de um mundo distópico, visando à vida eterna. Este é um filme subestimado, talvez por causa da assinatura de Bay, cujos trabalhos não se caracterizam necessariamente pelas propostas mais sérias, como é o caso aqui. O roteiro mistura 1984, de Orwell, com referências à ILHA DO DR. MOREAU, além de propor uma reflexão crítica sobre a manipulação e a injusta divisão de classes, sempre privilegiando os detentores do poder. Destaque para McGregor e Steve Buscemi, este último num papel fundamental para a trama. E, claro, há Scarlett, o principal motivo para assistir ao filme. Scarlett Johansson is obligatory. In this Michael Bay’s movie, she and Ewan McGregor escape from a facility headed by Sean Bean, where clones ordered by rich people who wish eternal life. This is an underrated movie, maybe because of Bay’s signature – his previous works are not necessarily known for being serious, and this is not the case here. The script puts together Orwell’s 1984, with references to THE ISLAND OF DR. MOREAU, and proposes a critical reflexion about manipulation and the unfair class division, always favoring the holders of power. Highlight to McGregor and Steve Buscemi, the latter in a pivotal role in the plot. And, of course, there is Scarlett, the main reason to watch the movie. HBO.
