THE CROWN – TEMP 1 – 10 EPISÓDIOS (UK, 2016) – Jóia da coroa da programação da Netflix, THE CROWN é, antes de tudo, uma visão crítica da monarquia britânica, evidenciando seu caráter tradicional e a profundíssima infelicidade de cada um de seus membros. A reconstituição de época é primorosa, e o elenco é perfeito. Nesta primeira temporada, há dois destaques: John Lithgow, um ator superlativo, como o primeiro-ministro Churchill, tem uma atuação tão impressionante (e comovente), a ponto de nos fazer esquecer Gary Oldman em O DESTINO DE UMA NAÇÃO; e, claro, Claire Foy, como a rainha Elizabeth. Ela consegue transmitir as restrições da monarquia, as pressões da corte, a solidão cósmica e o estoicismo do cargo através de longos silêncios e um olhar, ao mesmo tempo, indubitavelmente firme e devastadoramente melancólico, de quem se sabe chefe de tudo e de todos. Claire Fox é a alma da série nessas duas primeiras temporadas. No mais, THE CROWN é um primor de realização, direção e interpretação – tudo conflui de forma a atingir sempre o máximo de significado e informação histórica, sem deixar de lado as saborosas turbulências da grande família. A primeira temporada acompanha o aprendizado da jovem Elizabeth e sua acomodação ao peso da coroa, além da construção de uma relação quase parental entre ela e Churchill. Crown jewel of Netflix menu, THE CROWN is, above all, a critical vision of the British monarchy, outlining its traditional trait and the immense unhappiness of each one of its members. The recreation of historical events is exceptionally good and the cast is perfect. In this first season, two highlights: John Lithgow, a superlative actor, as the prime-minister Churchill has such an impressing and touching performance that makes us forget Gary Oldman in DARKEST HOUR; and, of course, Claire Foy, as Queen Elizabeth. She succeeds in conveying the monarchy restrictions, the pressures in the court, the cosmic loneliness and the stoicism of the royal position through long silent scenes and through her eyes, at the same time, undoubtley firm and devastatingly melancholic, knowing that she is the supreme boss. Claire Fox is the soul of the series in the two first seasons. Furthermore, THE CROWN is an example of production, direction and performances – everything goes together in order to achieve the maximum meaning and historical information, including the tasty turbulences of the great family. The first season follows young Elizabeth’s learnship and her accommodation to the weight of the crown, besides the almost parental relationship with Churchill.
