A começar pelo elenco: Henry Fonda, Jason Robards e Charles Bronson são o epítome da aridez machista do deserto, onde a habilidade com o revólver estava acima de qualquer valor. No entanto, é a presença coruscante de Claudia Cardinale que dá equilíbrio estético a tudo o que acontece na tela. Não se assuste com o ritmo lento – assim deveria ser a vida naquela época, mas tudo muda quando Claudia Cardinale chega ao rancho e encontra seu marido assassinado por Henry Fonda. To start with, the cast: Henry Fonda, Jason Robards and Charles Bronson are the epitome of the manly dryness of the desert, where the competence with the gun counted more than any other value. Despite, it is the coruscant presence of Claudia Cardinale that gives aesthetic balance to everything we see on the screen. Don’t be afraid of the slow rhythm of the initial sequence – life at that time should probably be so, but everything changes when Claudia arrives at her ranch, to find that her husband has been murdered by hired gun Henry Fonda. Ennio Morricone’s score is also part of this masterpiece.
