MÃE (MOTHER!, USA, 2017) – O diretor Darren Aronofsky empresta sua recorrente abordagem hiperbólica, para não dizer estranha, mas também instigante, para dar forma a uma alegoria do Gênesis, em que uma mulher (Jennifer Lawrence), a mãe do título, vê sua vida infernizada (o verbo é intencional), a partir do momento em que um homem (Ed Harris), a esposa dele (Michelle Pffeifer) e mais uma bando de desconhecidos invadem sua casa, onde mora com o marido escritor (Javier Bardem). Alegorias bíblicas e inquirições sobre a natureza da fé e do sentido religioso são constantes no trabalho de Aronofsky. Contudo em MÃE! ele leva estes questionamentos a um patamar extremo que, por vezes, incomoda e, por outras, confunde, mas que sempre nos desafia a tentar enxergar o sentido de cada cena e a descobrir momentos de beleza quase sensorial no cotidiano de um casal isolado numa floresta. Um exemplo disso é a primeira sequência, em que o diretor acompanha, com evidente deleite, o acordar de Jennifer Lawrence e seu desfile, num vestido diáfano, descalça e lânguida, pela casa. Uma coisa! Darren Aronofsky applies his recurrent hyperbolic approach, also strange, but instigating, to shape an allegory of the Genesis, in which a woman (Jennifer Lawrence), the mother of the title, sees her life becoming hell, from the moment a man (Ed Harris), his wife (Michelle Pffeifer) and a bunch of people invade her house, where she lives with her husband writer (Javier Bardem). Biblical allegories and discussions about the nature of faith and the religious sense are constant in Aronofsky’s work. On the other hand, in MOTHER! he takes these questions to an extreme level that, at times, makes us uncomfortable and puzzled, mas always challenges us to have a glimpse of the sense in the scenes and find out moments of an almost sensorial beauty in the daily life of a couple isolated in a forest. An example of that is the first sequence, in which the director follows, with evident delight, the awakening of Jennifer Lawrence, barefoot and languid, along the house. It is something!
