A FREIRA (THE NUN, USA, 2018) –O filme é uma história de terror clássica, reinterpretada pela perspectiva do horror moderno, que tem um roteiro preguiçoso e pouco original, sem acrescentar novidades impactantes ao universo compartilhado de INVOCAÇÃO DO MAL (THE CONJURING). Como prequela deste, A FREIRA aposta na repetição narrativa, reproduzindo estruturalmente A INVOCAÇÃO 2 em um contexto diferente. Esta mudança de cenário é que ajuda o filme a ter uma atmosfera de horror conservador, especialmente com o uso adequado de uma fotografia “chiaroscuro” e “sfumato”, bem ao estilo renascentista. A profanação religiosa parece, em alguns momentos, provocativa e gratuita, mas se integra coerentemente à história baseada exatamente na iconoclastia religiosa. The movie is a classic horror story reinterpreted from the modern horror perspective, which has a lazy and unoriginal plot that does not add any impacting novelty to THE CONJURING shared universe. This change of scenario is the only aspect that provides the movie with a conservative horror atmosphere, especially with the adequate use of “chiaroscuro” and “sfumato” photography, in the Renaissance style. The religious profanation seems, at some moments, provocative and unjustified, but it fits coherently to a story based exactly on the religious iconoclasm.
