AGONIA E ÊXTASE (THE AGONY AND THE ECSTASY, USA, 1965) – Michelangelo Buonarotti (Charlton Heston, majestoso) recebe do Papa Júlio II (Rex Harrison, impressionante) a tarefa de pintar o teto da Capela Sistina. A parte interessante do filme se deve ao relacionamento tenso, a um passo da agressividade, entre Heston e Harrison. De fato, os dois não se deram bem durante as filmagens, o que não foi ruim para a composição de dois personagens antagonistas. Assim como outros filmes desta época em Hollywood, pode-se dizer que A&E é esplêndido. Não somente por causa do seu status de drama épico, mas também devido à evidente hostilidade entre os dois protagonistas, o filme é um clássico. É uma homenagem ao gênio de um artista maior, como também uma parábola sobre a arte, o orgulho, a honestidade criativa e inspiração renascentista. The meaty part of the movie is due to the tense relationship, on the verge of hostility, between Harrison and Heston. In fact, they did not get along well during the filming, though not necessarily a bad thing for two actors playing antagonists. Like many historical films from the same period in Hollywood, it can be said that A&E is mind-blowing.
