A premissa pouco original peca exatamente na narrativa linear: Alice (Pugh) and Jack (Harry Styles) são um jovem casal nos anos 50, morando num bairro aparentemente perfeito criado por uma firma onde Jack é um dos empregados. Alice começa, então, a ser consumida pela curiosidade sobre a natureza do trabalho do marido. This movie directed by Olivia Wilde (also in the cast) is a mixture of TRUMAN SHOW with MATRIX. However, the true standout from this film is Florence Pugh, who deserves all the praise she will receive for her performance here, despite the irregular screenplay about issues like lack of privacy and middle-class frustrations. The premise, although not original, falls flat where storytelling is concerned: Alice (Pugh) and Jack Chambers (Harry Styles) are a young, happy couple in the 1950s, living in the seemingly perfect company town of Victory, California, which has been created and paid for by the mysterious company for which Jack works. Curiosity about the nature of her husband's work begins to consume Alice. HBO.
