Esse fiapo de roteiro é explorado com competência pelo diretor Curt Siodmark (também roteirista e responsável por diversos sucessos da galeria de monstros da Universal nos anos 30) neste noir-quase-terror, com um título ridículo mais para click bait, cuja função é manter o espectador na expectativa de ver Raymond Burr se transformar num gorila. Não sei se Perry Mason aprovaria. Entre um melodrama supernatural, efeitos de fundo de quintal e uma típica tragédia hollywoodiana do pós-guerra, o filme não deixa de ser um espasmo de estranheza, assistido menos pela qualidade e mais por admirar a coragem de quem colocou Burr num traje símio peludo. I don't know if Perry Mason would approve. Between a supernatural melodrama, bargain-bin effects and a typical post-war Hollywood tragedy, the film is still a spasm of strangeness, watched less for the quality and more for admiring the courage of those who put Burr in a furry ape suit.
