HOT MILK (UK, 2025) – Numa praia na costa da Espanha, Sophia (Emma Mackey, e BARBIE), desajustada socialmente e com o olhar triste, acompanha sua mãe (Fiona Shaw), cuja doença psicossomática está sendo tratada por um médico/curandeiro. Sentindo-se controlada pela mãe, Sophia acaba se envolvendo com uma mulher misteriosa (Vicky Krieps) e essa relação intensifica seus medos e traumas. A bela cinematografia ajuda o filme a ter um início promissor, mas não há um desenvolvimento orgânico dos personagens, e o roteiro balança entre explosões de raiva de Sophia – aparentemente sem motivo relevante – e sequências mornas e herméticas, como a cena final, totalmente destituída do suposto impacto dela esperado. On a beach on the coast of Spain, Sophia (Emma Mackey, from Barbie), socially misfit and with a sad look, accompanies her mother (Fiona Shaw), whose psychomatic illness is being treated by a doctor/healer. Feeling controlled by her mother, Sophia ends up getting involved with a mysterious woman (Vicky Krieps) and this relationship intensifies her fears and traumas. The beautiful cinematography helps the film to have a promising start, but there is no organic development of the characters, and the script swings between Sophia's outbursts of anger – apparently for no relevant reason – and lukewarm and hermetic sequences, such as the final scene, totally devoid of the supposed expected impact of her.
