A GRANDE JOGADA (MOLLY’S GAME, USA, 2017) – Baseado numa história real, o filme conta a trajetória de Molly Bloom
(Jessica Chastain, belíssima e perfeita no papel) uma ex esquiadora olímpica
que, depois de um acidente, começa a se envolver na organização de jogos de pôquer
da elite e se torna alvo do FBI. Aspecto negativo: para quem não entende de pôquer,
o filme perde muito de seu apelo. Aspecto positivo: Jessica Chastain, esculpindo
a laser suas falas e ampliando as contradições e traumas do personagem cujo pai
(Kevin Costner) lhe impôs uma disciplina rígida no esporte. Aliás, é
emocionante a cena entre ele e Molly, num banco em um parque de Manhattan. Idriss
Alba, como advogado da protagonista, imprime, num cenário tão violento, um toque
de humanidade. Mas é Jessica Chastain, magneticamente linda, que tem a atuação
mais impactante, num papel difícil e repleto de sutilezas. The movie is about Molly Bloom’s trajectory (with
Jessica Chastain, gorgeous and perfect in the role), a former Olympic-class
skier who, after an accident, gets involved in high-stakes poker games and
becomes an FBI target. Negative aspect: for those who are not familiar with the
poker game, the movie rapidly becomes boring. Positive aspect: Jessica Chastain,
carving her lines with laser, she amplifies the contradictions and traumas of
the character whose father (Kevin Costner) had imposed her a strict sport discipline
in the past. By the way, the scene between Molly and her father, on a bench, in
Manhattan is heartbreaking. Idriss Alba, as the protagonist’s lawyer, injects a
little bit of humanity in a violent scenario. But it is Jessica Chastain, magnetically
beautiful, who has the most impacting performance, in a difficult role fraught
with subtleties.
