RUTGER
HAUER & DAVID HEDISON – David Hedison foi um dos meus heróis
na infância, entre muitos: ele era o Capitão Lee Crane, do seriado VIAGEM AO
FUNDO DO MAR, uma versão submersa – mas nem por isso menos interessante – de STAR
TREK. Lee era o contraponto do quase fleumático Almirante Nelson (Richard Basehart):
mais impetuoso, impaciente, aquele que acreditava mais nos fins do que nos
meios, Crane foi a encarnação do homem digno, charmoso, com coragem suficiente
para desrespeitar as regras e resolver o problema. Antes do seriado, esteve em
A MOSCA (1958) e, depois, em dois filmes de James Bond. Rutger Hauer era diferente.
Esteve em dois filmes que fizeram o que sou hoje: BLADE RUNNER e O FEITIÇO DE ÁQUILA.
Naquele, era o androide que se revoltava contra a exiguidade de sua existência
(quem não?); e neste, era Etienne Navarre, o cavaleiro que se apaixonava por
Michelle Pfeiffer (quem não?), mas, por um feitiço, só conseguia se encontrar com
ela num breve instante no amanhecer e quando a noite começava. Etienne Navarre
era eu, nas telas de cinema. Hedison morreu dia dezoito de julho, e Rutger, um
dia depois. David Hedison was one of my
childhood heroes, among others: he was Captain Lee Crane, in the VOYAGE TO THE BOTTOM
OF THE SEA series, an underwater version – but not less groundbreaking – of STAR
TREK. Lee was the counterpoint of Admiral Nelson (Richard Basehart): more
impetuous, impatient, the one who believed more in the ends than in the means,
Crane was the incarnation of the nobleman, worthy, charming, courageous enough
to surpass the rules and get the job done. Before the series, he was in THE FLY
(1958) and, after, in two Bond movies. Rutger Hauer was
different. He was in two films that made
what I am today: BLADE RUNNER and LADYHAWKE. In the former, he is the android
who cannot understand the shortness of his existence (who can?); in the latter,
he is Etienne Navarre, the knight who falls in love with Michelle Pfeiffer (who
wouldn’t?), but, because of a spell, can only get in touch with her for a short
moment during dawn. Etienne Navarre was me on the big screens. Hedison died last July 18, and Rutger, one day later.
