THE BIG C – TEMP 1 – 13 EPISÓDIOS (USA, 2010) – Cathy Jameson (Laura Linney, numa atuação estupenda, como sempre, aliás) é uma dona de casa que recebe um diagnóstico de câncer e mergulha numa pletora de emoções, na medida em que procura conviver com a doença e com o marido (Oliver Platt), o filho adolescente (Gabriel Basso) e o irmão naturalista (John Benjamin Hickey). Já adianto: a série não tem nada de depressiva, apesar do tema, e é conduzida com extremo bom humor deslizando sobre um roteiro arguto e, ao mesmo tempo, bittersweet e encantadoramente leve. Porém, há momentos em que o humor se encontra com a tragédia, e é exatamente aí o grande diferencial de THE BIG C: ela nos faz refletir sobre o que é realmente essencial na vida, sobre a importância das relações pessoais e o valor de viver o aqui e agora. Imperdível. I'll tell you in advance: the series is not depressive at all, despite the theme, and is conducted with extreme good humor sliding over a shrewd script and, at the same time, bittersweet and charmingly light. However, there are times when humor meets tragedy, and that's exactly where THE BIG C makes us reflect on what is really essential in life, on the importance of personal relationships and the value of living in the here and now.
