O FANTASMA APAIXONADO (THE GHOST AND MRS MUIR, USA, 1947) – 1947 foi um bom ano. Uma jovem viúva cansa-se de morar com a sogra e, num impulso, compra uma velha casa que se diz ser assombrada no litoral inglês. Surpresa: o fantasma do Capitão Gregg, o proprietário anterior, é real. E também incrivelmente ranzinza – ou pelo menos até se deixar vencer pelos encantos da senhora Muir que, impressionada com o espírito (sem trocadilho) independente do finado marujo, retribui a atenção. Rex Harrison e Gene Tierney têm atuações que equilibram humor e sentimentalismo neste que é um dos melhores romances da era de ouro do gênero. 1947 was a good year. A young widow gets tired of living with her mother-in-law and buys a supposedly old house on the British seaside. Surprise: the ghost of Captain Gregg, the former owner, is real. And also incredibly cranky – at least until he is enchanted by Mrs. Muir who, impressed by the independent spirit (no pun intended) of the late sail man, reciprocate. Rex Harrison and Gene Tierney’s performances are equal in humor and sentimentalism in one of the best romances of the golden age of the genre.
