A LEI DA NOITE (LIVE BY NIGHT, USA, 2016) – Ben Affleck deveria se limitar a dirigir filmes apenas. No ótimo
ATRAÇÃO PERIGOSA (THE TOWN, USA, 2016), como em ARGO, ele mostrou que é um
diretor competente. Mas não tem talento para atuar. Neste filme, mais uma vez,
sua expressão de pedra cansa o espectador e detona o ritmo da narrativa. Até
parado ele é ruim. A LEI DA NOITE é uma tentativa frustrada de emular O
PODEROSO CHEFÃO; tem bons momentos, especialmente quando o excepcional Chris Cooper
aparece e tem a melhor atuação de um elenco que também conta com Elle Fanning,
Brendan Gleeson e Sienna Miller. Mas Affleck, definitivamente, não dá. Ben Affleck should be only a diretor.
In the great THE TOWN and ARGO, he showed a competent direction. Anyway, he has
no talent for drama. In this movie, once more, his stone-faced expression tires
the viewer, delivers nothing and interrupts the narrative flow. Even when
standing up he is a disaster. LIVE BY NIGHT tries to emulate THE GODFATHER; has
some good moments, especially when the superb Chris Cooper shows up and delivers
a paramount performance with Elle Fanning, Brendan Gleeson, and Sienna Miller. But
Affleck, definitely, is out of the question.
