1.THE MAN WHO CHANGED HIS
MIND (UK, 1936) – Among Boris Karloff’s 1930s plethora of mad doctors films, this little
gem, a relatively low budget flick, directed by Robert Stevenson, shows Karloff
playing a fallen from grace scientist who now finds himself holed up in a
crumbling, isolated manor house, aiming to perfect his experiments to exchange the
mind and personality of one creature for that of another. The movie is brisk and
an unashamed science-fiction tale of morality, showing Karloff at his best,
well supported by a great cast. The title, by the way, only makes sense in English, for it has a close connection with the storyline.
