007 – O AMANHÃ NUNCA MORRE (TOMORROW NEVER DIES, USA, UK, 1997) – Segundo filme de Pierce Brosnan como James Bond. O tema é mais que atual: manipulação das notícias por conglomerados de mídia. Brosnan, mais à vontade no papel, enfrenta o vilão Elliot Carver (Jonathan Pryce, exagerado na atuação), um magnata da comunicação, cuja especialidade é espalhar fake news para causar conflitos entre vários países. A Bond girl da vez é Michelle Yeoh (ela está em MEMÓRIAS DE UMA GUEIXA – veja post acima), uma das melhores de todos os filmes da franquia. É interessante notar a volta do uso dos aparatos de espionagem, em função da falta deles no filme anterior. Pierce Brosnan’s second movie as James Bond. The theme is more than current: the news manipulation by the midia conglomerates. Brosnan, more comfortable on the role, faces the villain Elliot Carver (Jonathan Pryce, a little bit overacting), a megalomaniac media baron, whose expertise is to spread fake news in order to cause conflicts among several countries. The Bond Girl this time is Michelle Yeoh (she is in MEMOIRS OF A GEISHA – see previous post), one of the best in the franchise. It is interesting to notice the heavy use of gadgetry, scarcely used in the preceding movie. Amazon Prime.
