This Steven Spielberg film continues to be much better than the most recent sequels, full of low-quality CGIs and script and cast as well. As if the impact, at the time, of the creation of the dinosaurs were not enough, in a great mix of CGI and animatronics, Spielberg knew how to build a thought-provoking story, with wonderful actors. There are flaws, however: the dialogues have aged badly, because of the excessively didactic tone, and Spielberg, always a master in leading children on stage, errs in the direction of Hammond’s grandchildren (the great Richard Attenbourough), not avoiding their over-the-top performance. On the other hand, in addition to the prehistoric cats, there is the soundtrack of the genius John Williams, the superb performances of Jeff Goldblum and Sam Neill, and the harrowing scenes with Wayne Knight (Newman, from SEINFELD), fleeing from the island of Nublar, under a torrential rain. The groundbreaking visual effects, blending CGI and animatronics, create lifelike dinosaurs that remain impressive even today. Iconic scenes, like the T-Rex attack and the kitchen chase, are highlighted for their thrilling and immersive quality. The film’s visual achievements are frequently praised for setting new standards in cinema and contributing to its lasting impact.
