EU, DANIEL BLAKE (I, DANIEL BLAKE, UK, 2016) – Ken Loach é um diretor preocupado com as questões sociais provocadas pelo neoliberalismo. Neste filme, Daniel Blake (Dave Johns), depois de um ataque cardíaco, precisa enfrentar a burocracia terceirizada para conseguir o auxílio desemprego. A história se passa em Newcastle, ao norte da Inglaterra, uma área industrial marcada pelo desemprego e a degradação econômica e social, após a onda neoliberal de Mrs Thatcher. A cidade materializa a discussão proposta por Loach, no sentido de simbolizar o apogeu de um modo de produção industrial, com uma classe trabalhadora valorizada com o advento de um estado de bem-estar social e a consequente precarização desta mesma classe trabalhadora, por causa da automação e do regime de financeirização. In this film, Daniel Blake (Dave Johns), after a heart attack, has to face outsourced bureaucracy to get unemployment benefits. The story takes place in Newcastle, in the north of England, an industrial area marked by unemployment and economic and social degradation, after Mrs. Thatcher's neoliberal wave. The city materializes the discussion proposed by Loach, in the sense of symbolizing the apogee of an industrial mode of production, with a working class valued with the advent of a welfare state and the consequent precariousness of the working class, because of automation and the financialization regime.
