JAY KELLY (USA, 2025) – O filme de Noah Baumbach (HISTÓRIA DE UM CASAMENTO, com Scarlett, e BARBIE) se equilibra entre duas abordagens aparentemente opostas, mas que se enfeixam no seu sentido macro e microscópico de representação: a crise existencial de um ator famoso (George Clooney) e a frieza pragmática e industrial de Hollywood, onde personagens e seus intérpretes se fundem deleteriamente em função da expectativa do público cada vez mais ávido por heróis, imaginários ou não – a cena em que Jay corre atrás de um ladrão e recupera a bolsa de suma senhora encapsula essa premissa perfeitamente. O roteiro, à medida que o filme avança, vai se tornando mais intimista, orbitando tomada de consciência de Jay e o redimensionamento da vida de Ron, uma atuação realmente comovente de Adam Sandler, no que talvez seja seu melhor papel até agora. A incapacidade trágica de Jay de viver qualquer coisa sem transformá-la em performance vertebra suas ações até ao paroxismo de escolher, pela primeira vez, viver de modo autêntico. Noah Baumbach's film (MARRIAGE STORY, with Scarlett, and BARBIE) balances between two apparently opposite approaches, but which are bundled in their macro and microscopic sense of representation: the existential crisis of a famous actor (George Clooney) and the pragmatic and industrial coldness of Hollywood, where characters and their interpreters merge in a harmful way due to the expectation of the audience increasingly eager for heroes, imaginary or not – the scene where Jay runs after a thief and retrieves his lady's purse encapsulates this premise perfectly. The script, as the film progresses, becomes more intimate, orbiting Jay's awareness and the resizing of Ron's life, a really moving performance by Adam Sandler, in what is perhaps his best role so far. Jay's tragic inability to live anything without turning it into a performance vertebrates his actions to the paroxysm of choosing, for the first time, to live authentically. Netflix.
