OS DONOS DA NOITE (WE OWN THE NIGHT, USA, 2007) – Bobby (Joaquin Phoenix) e Joe (Mark Wahlberg) são irmãos, aquele, um gerente de uma boate controlada pela máfia Rússia, este um policial condecorado e seguidor das leis. O pai, Burt (o maravilhoso Robert Duvall), divide sua atenção com esses dois extremos. Amada (Eva Mendes), namorada de Bobby, é uma daquela forças da natureza, sacudindo qualquer filme em que esteja e não é diferente aqui. O bom começo não acompanha em ritmo a parte final do filme. O roteiro é pouco original: dois irmãos em polos opostos se aproximam por causa de uma tragédia. De qualquer forma, vale pela atuação febril de Phoenix e pelo magnetismo de Eva Mendes. Their father (the wonderful Robert Duvall) is split between them. Amada (Eva Mendes), Bobby’s girlfriend, is one of those forces of nature, shaking up any movie she is in. The good start does not follow the rhythm the movie’s final part. The script is not original: two brothers at opposite end of the family spectrum require a major tragedy to bring them together.
