O SOBERANO (DER HERRSCHER, Alemanha, 1937) – O filme de Veit Harlan é sobre um proprietário de uma siderúrgica (Emil Jannings) que planeja se afastar dos negócios, depois da morte da esposa, mas volta atrás quando percebe a ganância dos diretores. O filme não é apenas uma ode à utopia völkisch da “comunidade do povo” e sua idealização do empreendedor consciente e preocupado como a comunidade racial. Fica clara no roteiro a ideia de que as pessoas devem ser comandadas por um líder – numa nítida referência a Hitler, cujo Departamento de Propaganda, chefiado por Goebbels, havia interferido na produção.
