PROJECT MOONBASE (USA, 1953) – A Guerra Fria estava nos seus primórdios, e o cinema começava a refletir (não no sentido crítico) sobre a “ameaça comunista” nos EUA, principalmente dentro da área militar. Assim sendo, no futuro ano de 1970, um foguete é mandado para a Lua, com a missão de iniciar a construção de uma estação que protegesse os Estados Unidos de mísseis inimigos (e, provavelmente, vermelhos). E quem vemos no comando do projeto? Ninguém menos do que Hayden Rorke, muito antes de ser o Dr. Bellows, de Jeannie, já naquela época se preocupando com quem vai para o espaço. Sim, o filme é tosco, como muitos do gênero daquela época – só para constar, os “astronautas” vestiam camiseta e bermuda ( ! ), mas também é interessante para vermos como era a concepção dos roteiristas sobre o futuro da exploração espacial.
