MONSTRO EM MIM – 8 EPISÓDIOS (THE BEAST IN ME, USA, 2025) – Uma escritora, Aggie Wiggs (Claire Danes), começa a ter uma má impressão do novo vizinho, aparentemente um milionário misterioso, Niles Jarvis (Matthew Rhys), que, depois de uma aproximação meio forçada, lhe pede para escrever um livro sobre sua vida. Claro que as coisas não vão ser tão fáceis assim – Niles tem um passado suspeito, enquanto Aggie precisa lidar com o trauma de ter perdido o filho pequeno num acidente, além da esposa, numa separação que ela ainda não superou. A trama é bem urdida, com bons ganchos entre um episódio e o outro, todos bem construídos, especialmente o sétimo, dirigido por Antonio Campos, filho de Lucas Mendes. Porém, os close-ups em Claire Danes parecem exagerados, prejudicando sua atuação, quando não assustando os espectadores, mais que o mefistofélico Niles. Jonathan Banks, de BREAKING BAD e BETTER CALL SAUL é um destaque, como o pai que tenta controlar o filho playboy. A writer, Aggie Wiggs (Claire Danes), begins to have a bad impression of her new neighbor, apparently a mysterious millionaire, Niles Jarvis (Matthew Rhys), who, after a somewhat forced approach, asks her to write a book about his life. Of course, things won't be that easy – Niles has a suspicious past, while Aggie has to deal with the trauma of losing her young son in an accident, as well as his wife, in a separation she still hasn't overcome. The plot is well built, with good hooks between one episode and the next, all well-constructed, especially the seventh, directed by Antonio Campos, son of Lucas Mendes. However, the close-ups on Claire Danes seem exaggerated, harming her performance, when not scaring the viewers, more than the Mephistophelean Niles. Jonathan Banks, from BREAKING BAD and BETTER CALL SAUL is a highlight, as the father who tries to control his playboy son. Netflix.
