ESTRADA SEM LEI (THE HIGHWAYMEN, USA, 2019) – O filme é um road movie que subverte a mitificação de Bonnie e Clyde ao focar nos dois ex-Rangers do Texas, Frank Hamer (Kevin Costner) e Maney Gault (Woody Harrelson). A história destaca a jornada cansada e pragmática desses agentes da lei, transformando a estrada em metáfora da passagem do tempo e da luta contra a idolatria do crime. A estrutura narrativa do filme segue a lógica do road movie, com deslocamentos por estradas poeirentas e cidades pequenas do sul dos EUA. É aí que entra a função da estrada: ao contrário dos road movies clássicos de autodescoberta, aqui ela simboliza o desgaste físico e emocional dos protagonistas, veteranos que carregam cicatrizes do passado. O roteiro critica a imprensa sensacionalista que transformou os criminosos em ícones, ignorando suas vítimas, numa inversão característica da pós-modernidade. “Estrada sem Lei” é um road movie de desencanto, que usa a estrada não como espaço de liberdade, mas como palco da exaustão de dois homens que carregam o peso da lei. Costner e Harrelson (ambos obrigatórios) entregam uma dupla que foge do heroísmo clássico e expõe o custo humano da justiça. In a way, this is also reflected in the protagonists, who are far from perfect - they are seen as "decadent cowboys", contrasting old methods with new police techniques. The script criticizes the sensationalist press that has turned criminals into icons, ignoring their victims, in a characteristic inversion of postmodernity. "Lawless Highway" is a road movie of disenchantment, which uses the road not as a space of freedom, but as a stage for the exhaustion of two men who carry the weight of the law. Costner and Harrelson (obligatory, both) deliver a duo that escapes classic heroism and exposes the human cost of justice. The film thus becomes a reflection on time, memory and the fabrication of myths, more than a simple police hunt. And, of course, there is the "friendship" factor that permeates the relationship of the protagonists and that should be a model for all of us.
